He is a project manager for\u201cDevelopment of Decision-Making Dashboards\u201d<\/strong>at the University of Caen Normandy. <\/p>\n The University of Caen Normandy has more than 30,000 students across 13 campuses, spread across 3 departments.<\/p>\n The university explored the possibility of acquiring a dashboarding solution. It was facing a significant volume of data<\/strong>, but also\u2014and more importantly\u2014difficulties in consolidating reliable metrics.<\/strong> <\/p>\n A look back at the implementation of this ambitious project, with insights from Fran\u00e7ois Girault. He is a project manager responsible for \u201cDeveloping Decision-Making Dashboards\u201d at the University of Caen Normandy. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThe university generates a large amount of data and has a critical need for metrics\u2014<\/strong> both internally, to manage and monitor the university\u2019s strategic plan, and to meet the ministry\u2019s requirements, particularly under the campus contract. However, our data is stored in various databases that are not linked to one another. Until now, developing indicators required several days of work. We had to export data from our databases, cross-reference it in an Excel file, and transfer it to dedicated documents. As a result, our responsiveness was not optimal.\u201d <\/p>\n “The Director General of Services therefore requested that we implement and maintain simple, reliable dashboards\u2014<\/strong> and, above all, ones that would be shared by all departments and units within our organization.<\/strong> As the university\u2019s Chief Information Officer at the time, I was appointed to carry out this project.” <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWhen I took on this role, I benchmarked the market in search of a solution that would meet our needs. I received an email promoting an agile, scalable, and reasonably priced business intelligence software solution: DigDash! Compared to other solutions, we chose this flexible French solution.\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n We were able to test the tool right away. And we were impressed by the quality of service and the responsiveness of the vendor\u2019s teams. Yet we were still only in the evaluation phase. <\/p>\n “The results weren’t long in coming: the solution was a 100% perfect fit for our needs! And thanks to its UGAP certification, we were able to purchase it very quickly!”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve connected DigDash Enterprise to our Apog\u00e9e database. It contains approximately 300,000 data points, with more than 100 attributes per student<\/strong>. We created the first dashboards in just a few clicks.
